Turnaround of strategic IT initiative

The CEO of a global electronics distributor was faced with the third massive delay and cost overrun on a strategically important IT initiative. The Board asked for an independent review of the initiative that would (i) Provide a true status of the initiative; (ii) identify root causes of poor performance; (iii) recommend specific actions to either shut down, redirect or turnaround the situation. MSG used our proprietary diagnostic tool to evaluate the true status, identify the root causes (poor software choices, insufficient skills, poor executive governance) and recommend actions to effect a turnaround. The recommendations were accepted by the Board and the initiative was restarted with the new plan, governance and resources required for success.
